Feel Good Haircare

Feel Good Haircare

What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the words “self-care”? We'll go first. For some, it’s getting a facial or a manicure, for others it’s going to a yoga class or keeping a gratitude journal. And this is because there are multiple meanings to self-care. Three ways to break It down: Emotional self-care, Physical self-care and Spiritual self-care. Today, we’ll be talking about ways in which you can treat all 3.

Getting into the habit of maintaining a good self-care regime takes time and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Especially when you have a never-ending to do list: Work deadlines, birthday meals, family commitments, going to the gym, squeezing a mani, swiping left, swiping right. The list goes on and on. But, there’s a way to slowly break into it - heard of the 21/90 rule? A popular habit-building method which suggests that it takes 21 days of commitment to turn anything into a habit. Whether that be getting into yoga, self-care rituals or even eating habits. And after that, you should be able to continue for another 90 days. But with so much to add to your self-care regime, you’re probably wondering: where do I even start? What works? Is it worth it? Well, a good place to start is to evaluate these habits against how they make you feel. Will that yoga class make you feel more relaxed? Will investing in high quality supplements make you feel more confident in your purchase? If the answer’s yes, then it’s already working and it’s worth it. You’ve asked yourself, now we’re asking you.

Do you squish?💆‍♀️

…your scalp. Originated from India, head massages have been around for over 1000 years, mainly for healthy hair growth. Also known as ‘Champissage’ or ‘champi’, head massages have scientifically been proven to increase hair thickness by stretching the cells of hair follicles, in turn stimulating hair follicles for thicker hair growth. But it doesn’t stop there. The happy chemicals in your body (serotonin, noradrenaline) also start singing and dancing.

Make this a habit: lock your phone, shut your laptop screen and turn the telly off. Massage your hair using a scalp massager like our Squishy for 3 minutes (at least) and before you jump in the shower. For a 2-in-1, use the En Root scalp oil to help stimulate and nourish and let it work its magic for 20 minutes before shampooing.

It's getting hot in here🔥

Heat. The gift that keeps on giving. Whether that be sunshine, proven to increase serotonin levels or a hot bath soothing muscles or a hot yoga class regulating blood glucose levels.

Have a hot bath: Heat gets your blood moving, which is not only great for circulation but also helps tight and sore muscles. The addition of Epsom salts in your warm bath has been proven to help reduce inflammation in your joints caused by arthritis or other muscular diseases. The benefits of having a hot bath are boundless. So, pause everything you’re doing. Run a hot bath, throw in some Epsom salts and soak yourself in some much-needed me-time

Stop skipping🙅‍♀️

Supplements. Do not skip your supplements. Not the first time you’ve heard this from us. But that’s because we just can’t stress enough on how important it is to support your diet with supplements. Good quality supplements. Vitamins and minerals are essential to help your body function as it should. While some of you get the nutrients your body needs from the food you consume, some need a little nutrient boost from supplements. We all know that for healthy hair growth, spinach and dark green leafy greens are the main sources. B vitamins, Vitamin C, Magnesium, Vitamin D and Silica are key vitamins and minerals your body needs for beautiful hair. And the good news is, these are just some of the components of the Tender Love and Hair (TLH) supplements.

Look good, feel good.💖

What does “looking good” even mean? First things first, looking good isn’t objective. It’s simply about you feeling confident in your own appearance. You own it, it’s how you perceive yourself. Whether it be a good hair day, a cute outfit or a fresh pair of shoes. Studies have time and time again revealed that how you dress for instance, can increase productivity levels. A recent study showed that 61% employees are more productive when they have freedom of choice to dress how they want. Compared to 80% people who work in environments with dress codes. When people have the choice to wear what they feel confident and comfortable in, morale is higher and people are more productive overall. Now imagine your stylish outfit paired with a good hair day. That’s where we step in.

Try this cute overnight heatless hairstyle:

Step 1: Apply Unwind Detangler on damp, washed hair to protect and lock in moisture.

Step 2: Blow-dry your hair as normal or let it air dry naturally.

Step 3: Section your hair in at least 4-6 sections and plait it. Sleep on your plaits.

Step 4: Take the plaits out the next morning to reveal effortless waves!

The bottom line: We know that self-care and a pamper sesh may not sound as important and vital as other things like a well-balanced diet. But, self-care does not mean the same to everyone. For some, self-care is a way to cope with difficult situations and other just use it to maintain their existing happiness. Ultimately, self-care is a way to check in with your mind, body and soul. Self-care is being kind to yourself.
